On Friday August 31, 2012, Bobak Ferdowsi, the Flight Director of the Mars Science Laboratory mission gave an update of what had happened during the last week of Curiosity on Mars. Ferdowsie, known to many, as mohawk guy, showed the JPL morse code slats on the wheels making an imprint on the Martian soil. These imprints are making it easier for the team to measure the distance driven by Curiosity and will show slippage of the wheels immediately.
