Daniel Zapata is a Systems Electrical Engineer for the Crawler transporters group at Kennedy Space Center Florida.
Since 2017, he has worked for Jacobs, NASA’s prime contractor for ground and launch operations at Kennedy, in support of the part of NASA's Exploration Ground Systems program.
During this time, Daniel has written and conducted preventive and corrective maintenance on transporter subsystems, as well as researched new equipment and modifications to improve subsystem reliability.
Daniel also works and supports transporter operations, including the transport of the Artemis I SLS rocket on top of Mobile Launcher 1 to Launch Pad 39B ahead of the historic launch.
He is an experienced and dedicated Crawler Driver and Crawler JEL (Jacking, Equalization and Leveling) operator. Daniel is a proud "Floricua" - a Floridan with Puerto Rican parents.
