With over 24 years of experience in human performance optimization, Dr. Diaz is a renowned Psychologist and Expert Human Factors Research Scientist who founded AdvancingX and currently serves as its CEO. He specializes in serving as a Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PI, where he focuses on research projects that involve gathering and analyzing data from teams working in various challenging environments such as Neutral Buoyancy EVA/IVA Operations, Navigation and Task Workload - Subterranean (Isolation / Environmental), Drone-based Navigation, Reconnaissance, and Search, High Task Workload - High Desert (Environmental factors), and High Crew Workload Team Exercises. His research aims to identify how external forces and environments affect the psychological and physiological performance of teams and how they can adjust to these factors.

Dr. Diaz has presented research findings on various topics, including the Third-Quarter Phenomenon and Deviant Performance in isolated extreme environments, at U.C. Berkeley. He has also published and co-authored several research papers, including Design Implications of Latent Challenges in the Long-Duration Space Mission, Identifying Motivational and Self-Regulatory Variables that Improve Team Performance, and Identifying Functional Characteristics that Influence Team Outcomes. Additionally, he is the developer of the Organizational Team Index (OTI) and Optimal Team Design (OTD) which supports team efficiency, performance, resilience, and cohesion.

Dr. Diaz earned his Doctoral Degree and Masters of Science in General Psychology Research and Evaluation from Walden University. He completed his undergraduate studies at Sonoma State University in conjunction with University of California, Berkeley.
