Namira Salim

Virgin Galactic | Astronaut, First Pakistani in space

Namira Salim is a pioneering figure with multiple "firsts" to her name, making her a notable personality on a global scale. As the first Pakistani astronaut, she marked her presence in space by participating in Virgin Galactic’s Galactic 04 Mission on 6th October 2023, launching from Spaceport America in New Mexico, USA. Besides her endeavors in space, Salim has also distinguished herself as a polar explorer, becoming the first person from Pakistan and the first woman from Dubai and Monaco to reach both the North and South Poles. Her adventurous spirit further led her to become the first Asian to skydive over Mount Everest during the historic First Everest Skydive in 2008.

Beyond her exploratory achievements, Namira Salim has established herself as a prominent space diplomat and advocate for peace. She is the founder and executive chairperson of Space Trust, a non-profit organization launched in Monaco in 2015, which aims to leverage the final frontier as a platform for peace on Earth. Her contributions to diplomacy are recognized through her roles as the Honorary Ambassador for Pakistan and the Honorary Consul of Pakistan to the Principality of Monaco. Salim has received numerous honors, including the Medal of Excellence by the President of Pakistan in 2011, for her exceptional contributions to space exploration, diplomacy, and her pioneering spirit in overcoming boundaries both terrestrial and beyond.
