Mr. Christopher Baran is currently the Director of the Commercial Communications Mission Area for Lockheed Martin Space. He is responsible for developing next-generation satellite communications architectures and business models for commercial systems that range from earth coverage to deep space. His portfolio includes integrating satcom into 5G network architectures that apply to Smart City, Deep Space and other use cases.

Chris was most recently the Vice-President, & Chief Operating Officer for GEOshare, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation, where he led a high-performance team that developed new growth strategies in communications and space sciences leveraging shared satellite assets. Prior to 2015, Chris was responsible for managing the Lockheed Martin Commercial Space business development team and was awarded two Lockheed Martin corporate NOVA awards for leading the capture of the first two advanced LM2100 satellite programs.

Chris has over 35 years of experience in the aerospace, banking, and strategic consulting industries, 26 of those with Lockheed Martin. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Lehigh University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) from Drexel University specializing in communications systems and microwave design.
